Berlin Marathon Training Week #2 Day 6

Location: Pasadena, CA

Temperature: Sunny, 73 degrees

Type of Run: Speed/Intervals

Length: 5 x 1 mile with 2:30 to 3 minutes of rest in between each mile

Type of route: 400 meter oval track

Time: 28 minutes, 07 seconds (5:36, 5:35, 5:41, 5:37, 5:38)

Pace Per Mile: 5:37

Reason for Run: Mile repeats are designed to build race strength, mental toughness, improve running efficiency, leg turnover and speed endurance. High-intensity workouts will help the body get used to race pace.

How did I feel? Good. Pacing was good and my legs felt mostly strong throughout the workout. The weather was nice which played a role in my feeling good. High-intensity workouts in hot weather can be tiring and will result in slower times even though the perceived effort is the same.

Running With You,
